Exercise!!!!!

Getting enough exercise in the for kids is sometimes super challenging--especially if your children aren't into a lot of group sports!  We live in such a fear driven, temperature controlled society that even though we life in a safe area, they are reluctant to go outside, and if it is too hot or too cold, feel they are miserable.  So while I work on the psychological barriers, the exercise is still needed.

After doing some research on the web, I came up with a list of activities that you and your kids can do together.  For me, I just need to have something to refer to, and I hope this helps give you some ideas too!

The other day, we followed along with a beginning Karate video that we found on YouTube--the internet makes so many things possible for us to try out.  There was some disappointment when it turned out to not be about attacking anyone--ha, ha!

Some of these we may never get to (skiing in the Midwest anyone?), or the equipment is too hard to come by (none of us have roller skates and there isn't a roller rink anywhere close), but who knows!  Finding physical activities you love is a fun and enjoyable quest of a lifetime, so you might as well spend your life trying them all out!!!!

Happy Exercising!!!!

General Conference Goal

I just finished watching the October 2016 General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  It was amazing, inspiring and I feel full of confidence and ready to improve and grow and lift those around me.  One thing I am always trying to do is make goals that help me learn how to more effectively take these inspired words, and not just listen to them, but weave them into my soul so I can be more like Jesus Christ.

So, for my General Conference Goal, I am going to create memes for every Conference address.  I'm so excited.  If I can do them fast enough I would like to do 2 for every Conference talk.  I use memes all the time in a PowerPoint slide show that I have running continuously in my kitchen.  I update it daily with new thoughts and quotes.  Who knows when that quote on that day will help someone in my family. While none of them have ever come up and talked to me about it having a meaningful impact, I know that some days, the impact is in my own life.

I would also like to do this with artwork that is original, whether it be a photo I've taken, or a painting or drawing of my own and improve those skills as well.

I'm kind of excited!  I would LOVE to hear of any goals that you might have!

Happy traveling!

November 2015 Menu

Happy November!!!

Here is our Menu for the month of November. What a fun month, in so many ways!  I know that planning out my menu really makes a difference in how efficient I am in the kitchen.  Sometimes I love to cook, other times I'm just getting it done as fast as possible because there are other things that are calling.

Regardless, having dinner together is one of the top priorities in our family.  Not only have numerous studies shown the long lasting benefits of dinner together, we have also been encouraged by church leaders to make this a priority as well.

How much of a priority is it in my life????  Absolutely huge.  When my children want to try out new sports, hobbies and music instruments, if the answer is "NO" to our being able to have dinner together, than my answer is "NO" to the activity.  There are plenty of other ways to get those extracurricular activities into our lives, but there is no other way to be able to eat together without physically being there.

Happy Adventuring!

Drying Parsley

My parsley plant that I planted this spring grew huge over the summer!

At the same time my bottle of dried parsley just had a few sad flakes at the bottom.  Looking it up online, there were several good posts about drying parsley.

I was excited to try something new!!!!  I have never dried herbs before.  Just bananas.

The instructions they had in common were:

  • Put your dehydrator on a low setting
  • Put the parsley in a single layer on the drying rack
  • Dry until crisp and easy to crumble
I have a cheap dehydrator that I got from Aldi.  It took it about 4 hours to dry a full contingent of parsley.

I love how pretty it looks when dry as well!

Batch 1

Batch 2

Batch 3

Just two more batches to go until my bottle is full.  My favorite ways to use dried parsley are in the topping I make for garlic bread and in homemade chicken noodle soup.

What are yours?

Have an adventurous day!

Abraham 3:25

For my ponderizing scripture for this week, I have chosen Abraham 3:25.  I hope that you enjoy the meme that I made to go with it!

And we will aprove them herewith, to see if they willbdo all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them

Ponderize!

I was so inspired by General Conference!  I have taken the challenge to ponderize a verse each week.  This week my verse is 2 Nephi 2:11.

For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.

I couldn't find any cute meme's out there on the web that I could actually print.  I did find one, but it got me nowhere, so I came up with one of my own that I want to share with you!

The image is taken from the image website at lds.org.

I would love to hear what verse you are ponderizing this week!
